FAQs

Q:

Is Crown Homeschool Community a school?

A:

No. Crown is a private Christian support group designed to provide support and enrichment for home educating families. Whether you are with a charter, a psp, or file a private affidavit, Crown is for everyone that chooses to home educate!

Q:

Is this a religious organization?

A:

We are a collection of families from a variety of denominations. We do ask that all our members sign and agree to Crown's Statement of Faith. Our purpose is to support each other in our homeschool endeavors while encouraging each other freely with the Word of God. You will find an environment of faith and a Christian worldview in all our co-op classes and activities.

Q:

How do I apply for membership to Crown Homeschool Community?

A:

Click the "Join" button at the top of the Homepage and fill out a membership application. You will receive an email confirming receipt of your application.  Membership approval can take a few days, so if you want to register for classes, do not wait until the night before to apply for membership.

Membership and Wednesday Co-op registration is closed to new families for  2025/2026. Tuesday High School classes are still open to new families.

Q:

What are the requirements for membership in Co-op?

A:

The requirements are:

  • You must complete a website family profile and agree to our Statement of Faith.
  • You must pay the Co-op membership fee of $230 for the whole family. This covers your whole family, all year long.
  • For Tuesday High School, there is a $100 fee for your family (high school ages) to participate in Tuesday co-op classes.
  • You must have a Kindergarten or older student who will be participating in classes.
  • Parents must remain on campus on Wednesdays.
  • You must fulfill your co-op day classroom/parent assignments.
  • Sign-up and complete your Membership Service Jobs.

Q:

How much does it cost to join Crown Homeschool Community, Co-op, and/or High School?

A:

We are happy to announce that Co-op Membership for the new school year is only $230 for the entire family, for the whole year. This fee covers rent, insurance, website, and other costs to help make Crown the best homeschool ministry support group for your family. Financial costs are kept at a minimum because the real cost for every member is their commitment, time, and effort to make this cooperative organization run effectively. All members of our Board serve as volunteers.

Crown High School is optional with your Crown Co-op Membership. High School Co-op has a separate fee of $100 for your family, for the whole year. Classes are held on Tuesdays and our schedule is available on our homepage.

Crown Homeschool Community has dedicated high school (drop off) classes on Tuesdays. High school is a co-op and parents will need to help with some on and off campus duties. The school year will begin August 26th and end May 19th. We will have a variety of classes on Tuesdays and you are welcome to join one class or all day. **If you are a charter school family, charter funds cannot be used to cover fees as we are a Christian organization.** Our vendors will accept monthly payments.

**Everyone must be a current member of Crown Homeschool Community to participate in Co-op and High School**

Q:

Can I join Crown if I'm with a charter school or a private homeschool group?

A:

Yes! Crown is not a school.  Anyone that homeschools can join, whether you are with a charter school, a psp, or you file your own affidavit.  Even though charter families can join co-op, families cannot use charter funds to pay for classes at Crown. We are a support group that offers all kinds of co-op classes, field trips, moms night out, tween & teen events, and so much more!  This is the place to get connected and join a community of loving and supportive families while you navigate through your homeschool journey. Many solid friendships are formed for both students and parents!

Q:

Where does Co-op meet?

A:

Crown Co-op meets in Silverado Canyon, CA.

Q:

Can I drop off my children for classes?

A:

Wednesday Co-op is NOT a drop-off program. A parent must stay on campus and teach or help in classes that they are assigned to. Being a part of a co-operative organization means everyone pulls their own weight to maintain a successful program.

Crown High School IS a drop-off program. We are still a co-op, so parents will still need to be involved in running the co-op and all activities.

Q:

Can I enroll students that are not my children in the case that I am homeschooling or babysitting children from other families?

A:

No. Parents (or guardians or homeschooling grandparents) only are allowed to enroll their own children for co-op.

Q:

Does the co-op have classes for children who are not of school age yet?

A:

Yes. We have a nursery and a preschool.

Our nursery and preschool classes are for siblings of children who are Kindergarten age or older and are enrolled in classes at Crown.

Q:

How many members does Crown have?

A:

This number fluctuates, however, on average we have approximately 90 families as members of Crown Homeschool Community.

Q:

What classes does Crown offer?

A:

Crown offers a wide variety of educational and enrichment classes, from history, science, math, English, and foreign languages to art, music, drama, dance, cooking...and much more. Please see our curent list of classes on our homepage.

Q:

Do I have to take classes all day?

A:

You may choose to take one class, or two classes, or stay all day.  You attend and participate in the classes that fit your schedule and needs.

On Wednesday Co-op, parents teach and help out in classes while their children are in class. If you are there most of the day, you will usually get a little time off to grab some coffee and snacks and socialize with other parents. We also have a dedicated lunch hour for you to connect with other parents and for your kids to fellowship with the other kids.

For Crown High School, you may choose to take as many on-campus classes as you'd like to support your learning.

Q:

What are some ways that Crown Homeschool Community promotes unity and cooperation among the students?

A:

We encourage our students and famillies in many ways in hopes of creating a close-knit community. We have many activities, such as park days, family outings, field trips, tween & teen events, service projects, and moms' nights out to encourage fellowship on a regular basis. We encourage our community to pray for one another with monthly prayer themes. We have a dedicated homeroom for prayer/announcements and a lunchtime during co-op days. We also have community wide fun events for the whole family throughout the year, such as our family Hoedown dance, PJs and Pancakes Day, and the annual End of Year Showcase.
